Innovation and Leadership
As well as inventing and developing new pharmaceutical products for patients, Pharmaxis has led the Australian biotechnology sector in forging a new operating model that retains ownership of the products through extensive clinical trials.
Pharmaxis is the first Australian biotechnology company to have completed Phase 3 clinical trials without a partner and to bring a therapy from molecule to market: making Aridol the first wholly Australian-made pharmaceutical product. This was supported by a then record $87 million capital raising in 2006. This ground-breaking approach was recognised by AusBiotech in 2006, with CEO Alan Robertson receiving the sector's premier award for entrepreneurship and leadership.
Pharmaxis is managed by experienced senior pharmaceutical and technology industry professionals with an international track record of developing and commercialising breakthrough products. The management team is supported by a highly experienced Board of Directors, the most recent addition being the highly regarded life science investment manager Richard van den Broek.
