As well as being a product innovator, Pharmaxis has led the Australian biotechnology sector in forging a new operating model that others are now following.
Pharmaxis is the first Australian biotechnology company ever to have completed Phase III clinical trials without a partner and to bring a therapy from molecule to market: making Aridol the first wholly Australian-made pharmaceutical product. This was supported by a record $87 million capital raising in 2006. This ground-breaking approach was recognised by AusBiotech in 2006, with CEO Alan Robertson receiving the sector’s premier award for entrepreneurship and leadership.
